Eagle County Regional Airport (EGE)
December 15, 2023 - The Eagle County Regional Airport is among the World's Most Beautiful Airports according to Prix Versailles – the World Architecture and Design Award at UNESCO.
Each year, the Prix Versailles evaluates the most remarkable openings and recognizes them as the World's Most Beautiful Airports. Eagle County Regional Airport became a Selected Site on September 16, 2020; then it was voted the World Special Prize for Interiors on December 17, 2020, by the World Judges Panel. The announcement delay is because this is the first time the World's Most Beautiful Airports List has been released (on prix-versailles.com and instagram.com/prixversailles).
"The Prix Versailles naming Eagle County Regional Airport to the World's Most Beautiful Airports List is an honor. It is a recognition of the hard work and dedication that went into creating the terminal expansion,” said Deputy Director of Aviation Josh Miller. “We know air travel can be stressful, and we are proud to know that the design of our facility offers an inviting and comfortable experience for passengers transiting the Eagle County Regional Airport."
The awarding criteria include innovation, creativity, the reflection of local, natural and cultural heritage, and ecological efficiency. “Eagle’s vision for the concourse empowered our design team to encapsulate the essence of the Vail Valley, delivering passengers an unexpected and lasting travel experience. We are deeply grateful for this recognition from Prix Versailles,” said Brent Mather, Design Principal, Gensler.
Only six airports and terminals become Selected Sites (i.e. part of the World Selection) each year. But all new airports and terminals worldwide are considered.
This is the first time the World's Most Beautiful Airports List has been constituted and published. It will be updated yearly with six new airports and terminals.
