The Solid Waste and Recycling (SW&R) Department provides waste disposal services to the public in the most cost effective and environmentally sound manner while continuing to support existing environmental and recycling programs. The SW&R Department consists of a municipal solid waste landfill, a household hazardous waste facility (HHW) and a dual stream material recovery facility (MRF). Other programs offered by the SW&R Department are free public recycling drop off sites throughout the valley (Vail, Avon, Edwards, Eagle, Gypsum and Red Cliff), textile recycling at the landfill, reuse area at the landfill and metal recycling. NOTICE:
Effective January 1, 2026, the majority of the tipping fees for the Eagle County Landfill will be increasing. The fees that will increase and the new rates are as follows:

  • Compacted Waste - $48 per ton - Effective January 1, 2026
  • Mixed Waste / Domestic - $48 per ton - Effective January 1, 2026
  • Construction / Demolition (C&D) - $57 per ton - Effective January 1, 2026
  • Concrete/Dirt/Other - $57 per ton - Effective January 1, 2026
  • Contaminated Soil - $48 per ton - Effective January 1, 2026
  • Landscape Material - $48 per ton - Effective January 1, 2026
  • Non-Hazardous Liquid Waste - $0.75 per gallon - Effective January 1, 2026
  • Tires - Mixed in the trash or on the rim (passenger vehicle size) - $12 per tire - Effective January 1, 2026
  • Tires - Separated from the trash off the rim (passenger vehicle size) - $8 per tire - Effective January 1, 2026.
  • New - Tires - Ten (10) or more - $20 per tire - Effective January 1, 2026
  • Tires - Oversize (larger than a passenger vehicle size tire) - $60 per tire - Effective January 1, 2026
  • Uncovered Load Fee - $40 - Effective January 1, 2026
  • Can Clean Out - $50 - Effective January 1, 2026

 - Electronics - $0.40 per pound - Effective January 1, 2026
 - Latex Paint - $0.60 per pound - Effective January 1, 2026
 - Flammable Liquids and Paint - $0.70 per pound - Effective January 1, 2026
