County offices closed July 4-5 for Independence Day; Veterans invited to march in Vail America Days Parade

June 27, 2024 – County offices, including the Avon and El Jebel satellite offices, will be closed on Thursday and Friday, July 4-5, in observance of the Independence Day holiday. 

The landfill and related facilities will be closed on July 4 only. The Eagle County landfill will open at 6:30 a.m. on Friday, July 5; other Solid Waste and Recycling facilities will open at 8 a.m.

  • Emergency services are always available by calling 911.
  • For non-emergencies, call Dispatch (Vail Public Safety Communications) at 970-479-2201.
  • The Road & Bridge Department will be on call at 970-479-2200 in cases of emergency.
  • ECO Transit bus routes will operate on their regular schedules.

All visiting and local veterans are invited to march in the Vail America Days Parade on July 4. Uniforms are not required, but walking shoes, sunscreen, and hats are strongly advised. 

“This is the 34th year the VFW and local veterans have led the 4th of July parade in Vail,” said Eagle County Veteran Services Officer Pat Hammon. “Having veterans lead the parade serves a two-fold purpose: it honors our veterans, and it provides the public with an opportunity to thank them for their service.” 

Date: Thursday, July 4

Time: Meet at 9 a.m., parade begins at 10 a.m. 

Location: Corner of Hanson Ranch Road and Vail Valley Drive, in front of The Tivoli Lodge in Vail

Do not let mobility concerns prevent you from participating in the parade. Veterans with mobility concerns can ride in one of several vehicles available for this event.
