May 25, 2023 – Revised Preliminary Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) for Eagle County produced by the Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB) will be available for public viewing at two upcoming open houses on May 30.

The Colorado River open house will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30 at the Two Rivers Community Center, 80 Lake Shore Drive in Dotsero. Spanish translation and assistance will be provided at the meeting and a virtual option is available, or dial ‪470-273-8232‬ PIN: ‪778 117 069‬#

The Roaring Fork River open house will be held at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30 in council chambers at the Basalt Town Hall, 101 Midland Ave in Basalt. Spanish translation and assistance will be provided and a virtual option is available, or dial 719-359-4580, Meeting ID: 871 766 8202.

The maps are a part of the Eagle County Physical Map Revisions (PMR) Flood Risk Project that has updated the flood risk information for the Colorado River and Roaring Fork River. These PMR maps are the beginning stages of regulatory floodplain information approval and adoption by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). These maps have important implications related to property improvements, flood insurance rates and requirements, and obtaining federal loans or any future sale of affected properties.

Representatives from Eagle County, CWCB, and FEMA will attend the meeting to explain the process and answer questions. The community’s comments are an important part of the FEMA review process and the agency will consider them carefully before it publishes the final FIRMs and Flood Insurance Study reports for Eagle County.
