May 24, 2023- The Eagle County Regional Airport (EGE) 20-Year Master Plan process is well underway, and the public is invited to attend a virtual Community Meeting to provide input and feedback about future improvements of airport facilities and infrastructure. The meeting will be held on Tuesday June 6 at 6 p.m.

As shared during the February 2023 community meeting, the Airport continues to experience growth in passenger enplanements. The Master Plan will provide a long-term roadmap to plan for and address the needs of the Airport related to the future forecasted activity. Since the initial project kick-off, planning efforts have focused on identifying future facility requirements and alternatives for such things as the commercial terminal building, the roadway system and parking, as well as aircraft hangar development. In addition, the Master Plan will provide a summary of the Airport’s environmental practices and sustainability efforts in concert with Eagle County’s environmental initiatives and commitments. Community members, elected officials, key stakeholders and business owners were among those who have provided invaluable feedback thus far, helping to shape these alternatives.

“We are committed to hearing from our community and business leaders to ensure that the Airport remains a valued public asset,” said David Reid, Aviation Director.

The Airport Master Plan is a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulated and funded process that identifies recommended improvements, all of which must comply with federal and state regulations as well as airport design standards. “Defining our overall future capital improvements is essential in working with the FAA to secure needed funding to continue providing safe, efficient and well-functioning facilities and infrastructure for our community and the traveling public,” said Reid. While the FAA may assist in providing federal funding of projects, the County Commissioners are the final decision-makers regarding any of the Airport’s recommended capital improvement projects.

Community members are encouraged to participate in the virtual Community Meeting on Tuesday June 6th at 6pm and may also submit comments via the project website.
