Mobile Ticketing Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I use the ECO Transit Mobile Tickets app?

Mobile tickets are valid on all ECO Transit bus routes. They are not valid on Vail Transit, Avon Transit, or Beaver Creek Transit routes, which are fare free. Please read ECO Transit’s fare policies before traveling.

When should I buy my ticket?

You may pre-purchase tickets for future use and activate as you ride or purchase a ticket on the day of travel. Pre-purchased tickets expire after purchase even if not activated for use. Single ride, Youth and Senior 4-Pack, and Day passes all expire 90 days after purchase. 10-Ride packs and 30-Day Unlimited passes expire 6 months after purchase.

When do I activate my ticket?

You must activate your ticket right before boarding the bus. Bus operators and fare inspectors will require an activated ticket. Please note: Single ride tickets (including youth and senior entitlements) will expire 3 hours after activation, while Day passes expire 24 hours after activation.

Can I transfer to other routes with a mobile ticket?

You must purchase the correct fare required for each route. If you have a regular fare you may transfer to other routes that require a regular fare, but cannot ride a route requiring a premium fare. If you have a premium fare you can transfer to all other routes.

Do mobile tickets expire?
Yes, purchased tickets and passes expire after purchase even if they are not activated. Single ride, Youth and Senior 4-Pack, and Day passes all expire 90 days after purchase. 10-Ride packs and 30-Day Unlimited passes expire 6 months after purchase.
Aren't Day Passes good for 24 hours?

Yes, Day passes are valid for 24 hours from activation.

Can I get a refund for unused tickets or service disruptions?

ECO Transit does not issue refunds or exchanges for unused fare media or any other reason. In the event of service disruptions, please contact ECO Transit Customer Care at 970.328.3520.

Do I need to set up an account to use ECO Transit's ECO Tickets app?

We recommend that you set up an account for your convenience and protection, but you may check out as a guest. If you have created a customer account and your mobile device is lost, stolen, or replaced, you will be able to migrate unused, unexpired tickets to your new device when logging into your account on the new device.

Will my mobile ticket still work if I lose my cell phone service while trying to use my ticket?

Mobile tickets do not need cellular or Wi-Fi services to be displayed. You do need connectivity to purchase a ticket, which must be done before boarding. If you lose cellular service after purchasing a ticket, you will still be able to activate and display the ticket from the ticket wallet.

What happens if my smart phone becomes inoperable (e.g. dead battery, cracked screen) prior to being able to show my mobile ticket?

If your mobile phone is inoperable, you will have to use some other payment method for the trip.

If I am traveling with friends and family, can I purchase and activate more than one ticket on my phone?

You can buy up to 10 Single Ride, Youth or Senior 4 Packs, or Day passes or up to 5 30-day passes in a single purchase. You have to activate a ticket for each passenger before boarding an ECO Transit vehicle. Activating a large number of tickets could slow down the app.

What happens if I buy a new device?

If you have created a customer account and purchase a new mobile device, just install the app on your new device and sign into your account. You will be able to migrate your tickets to the new device, access your ticket wallet, and purchase as usual. If you have an unused, unexpired ticket that does not appear, please contact ECO Transit’s Customer Care team (970.328.3520).

Are receipts available for mobile ticketing purchases?

Receipts are available through email for all purchases made through the ECO Tickets app. Please enter your email address when you purchase a ticket, and a receipt will be automatically emailed to you. If you can’t find your receipt, you can open the ticket from your ticket wallet and re-send the receipt to your email address.

Are there any fees for using the ECO Tickets app?

The ECO Tickets app is free to download. You may incur data usage fees via your mobile service provider for use of the application. ECO Transit is not responsible for any mobile carrier data charges that a customer incurs as a result of downloading or using the ECO Tickets application.

Is the ECO Tickets application available on all devices?

The ECO Tickets application is available on the majority of iOS and Android devices installed with recent operating systems. Older versions of software may not be supported.

I am eligible for discounted fares. How do I access these on my mobile device?
When making a purchase, you can select between a full price pass and a discounted pass. Discount fares are available for all seniors 60+; individuals with disabilities; and youth ages 6-18. Proof of eligibility is required either on the bus for Youth or Senior 4 Packs or prior to purchase for the Youth or Senior Annual pass. Active duty members of the U.S. military and Military Veterans are eligible for a 50% discount on ECO Transit’s mobile fares and tickets or fares collected on the bus, including Per-ride, 24-hour, 10-ride, and 30-day unlimited passes. Proof of eligibility will be required at time of boarding. Individuals with disabilities may be eligible for discounted or free rides through ECO Trasnit’s Paratransit program.
What if I am riding with children ages 5 years or younger?
Children five years of age or younger ride free with a fare-paying adult.
I am an active duty member of the military. Is there a discount for me?

Active duty members of the U.S. military and Military Veterans are eligible for a 50% discount on ECO Transit’s mobile fares and tickets or fares collected on the bus, including Per-ride, 24-hour, 10-ride, and 30-day unlimited passes. Proof of eligibility will be required at time of boarding.

Will the application store my credit card details?

You have the option to store your credit card details for future transactions.

What security protections are in place to protect my personal information?

The ECO Transit Mobile Tickets platform is fully certified and compliant with Payment Card Industry standards (PCI-DSS). All payment communications are fully encrypted via SSL, any sensitive data stored are highly encrypted, and systems are constantly being monitored for security vulnerabilities.

What is a Stored Value Account?

A Stored Value Account is a payment option in the ECO Transit Mobile Tickets app that allows customers to deposit and store funds for purchasing ECO Transit tickets and passes. Deposits can be made via a credit, debit card, Apple Pay/Google Pay, and the available balance can be used to buy ECO Transit passes for current or future use. Unused balance cannot be refunded. Stored Value Account does not expire.

How do I get my Annual Youth or Annual Senior pass?

Annual Youth and Annual Senior passes require proof of age to determine eligibility. A government issued ID or school ID (youth only) needs to be presented to an ECO Transit Customer Care representative at either the Vail Transportation Center or Gypsum Maintenance Service Center offices or via email at ecotickets@eaglecounty.us. The ECO Transit Customer Care representative then will activate an entitlement up to 1-year, based on age, for your ECO Tickets app account. Your account will then be permitted to purchase the $25 annual youth or senior pass. For Instructions click here.
