ECO Trails, along with local businesses and organizations, are dedicated to providing a safe and clean Eagle Valley Trail throughout Eagle County. The maintenance and cleaning of trail sections is a multi-faceted approach with local businesses and organizations who have adopted sections of the Eagle Valley Trail providing biannual cleanup days and ECO Trails staff providing additional cleaning throughout the year. ECO Trails recognizes the outstanding support it receives from these Trail Adopters.
The Eagle Valley High School Cross Country and Track and Field teams volunteered to clean up the the Eagle Valley Trail from the BLM Lava site to the BLM Horse Pasture river access. The Devils were so enthusiastic that the section was claimed before it was even completed in 2013!
Bossow Excavation has volunteered their time since 2008 to clean the Eagle Valley Trail from the BLM Campground west to BLM Horse Pasture river between Gypsum and Dotsero.
The Western Eagle Valley Rotary Club is one of the longest tenured Trail Adopters having maintained the trail segment from the BLM Campground east to the Highway 6/I-70 Interchange in Gypsum since 2002.
Campbell Construction has diligently cleaned a heavily used section of the Eagle Valley Trail from Hilcrest Drive to the Eagle River Mobile Home Park entrance since 2013. Campbell Construction has done an excellent job in keeping this segment looking great.
RA Nelson is our longest serving volunteer and has served since 2001. RA Nelson is committed to cleaning the next section east from the Eagle River Mobile Home Park to the entrance of the Edwards Building Center along Highway 6 in Edwards.
The Edwards Rotary Club has volunteered their time to help keep the section of regional trail tidy through Edwards from the Edwards Building Center to the WECMRD Fieldhouse at Miller Ranch. The Edwards Rotary Club helps manage the trash problem caused by the trail being adjacent to the highway as well as being in an open area prone to winds.
The River Pines Homeowners Association has provided maintenance and cleaning of the Eagle Valley Trail for the stretch along Freedom Park and Miller ranch. This stretch of trail extends from the WECMRD Fieldhouse to the Miller Ranch Road trail crossing. The cleaning provided here is important as it is one of the heavily used trail segments.
The Inn and Suites at Riverwalk and the Riverwalk Master Association have been permanent maintainers of the pocket park along the trail behind Riverwalk. Both groups have combined their efforts to provide a wonderful experience for all trail users and visitors to the area.
The Eagle County Charter Academy has adopted the Eagle Valley Trail from Miller Ranch Road to Riverbend Drive since 2001. Twice a year a group of students serve the community and learn about service by cleaning up the trail. All of the users enjoy this immaculately maintained section.
The Ski and Snowboard Club Vail has been adopting the stretch of trail from Stonebridge Dr in Avon to the EagleVail I-70 exit since 2003.
SOS Outreach joined the program in 2009, but they jumped right in with a key section of the trail from River Run and Kayak Crossing in EagleVail to the pedestrian bridge at the Minturn I-70 interchange.
Town of Gypsum adopted their section from Cooley Mesa Road/Hwy 6 intersection to Sylvan Lake Road roundabout in Eagle in 2015.
Vail Valley Foundation joined the program in 2017 and have done a great job!
Service clubs, youth groups, businesses, church groups or families are encouraged to apply to volunteer and can contact Maya Belback at 328-3570. Adopting groups must commit to a minimum of two trash pickups a year.
