Voting When Away from Home

Voting When Away from Home

userway ADA
Ballots will be mailed to active registered voters the week of October 16 for the November 7, 2023 Coordinated Election. By law, ballots cannot be forwarded by the U.S. Postal Service, so it’s very important that your mailing address is current in your voter registration so that you receive your ballot.
Does one of the following situations apply to you?
Away at college
If you are a college student who wishes to remain an Eagle County resident but are currently living somewhere other than your Eagle County address, visit to add a “ballot mailing address” to your voter registration (leave your residential and mailing addresses as they are). The ballot address is where your ballot will be mailed. NOTE:  this address will remain in your voter registration until you update it, so make certain to update it the next time you move, or return to Eagle County.

You may drop your voted ballot in any Colorado county-controlled drop-box before 7 p.m. on election day.  Use this tool to find a location.  Or, if you'll be mailing your ballot, make certain to leave plenty of time. Postmarks don't count, and your ballot must be received by 7 p.m. on election day.

If you are a student attending a college or university out-of-state and wish to register to vote there, you should check that state's voter registration rules. If you change your voter registration to a different state, you will no longer be eligible to vote in Colorado.  Options to withdraw your Colorado voter registration are provided HERE
Active duty military or dependent of active duty military
Currently living overseas
Traveling or extended stay within the United States
If you are away from home and are in the U.S., visit to add a “ballot address” to your voter registration. Or print, complete and return a voter registration form (English or Spanish) to Eagle County Elections

NOTE: The ballot mailing address you add is where your ballot will be mailed. This ballot mailing address will remain in your voter registration until you change it, so remember to update it as needed.

Traveling or extended stay outside of the United States
If you will be outside the U.S. when ballots are mailed, you may be eligible for Overseas/Military (UOCAVA) voter status.  Check here for more details.
No longer live in Colorado
