Noxious weed control scheduled for I-70 and Vail Pass rec path Monday

Contact: Scott Griffin, Noxious Weed Program Manager, 970-328-3553 or

July 29, 2016 – Eagle County Noxious Weed Management crews will be spraying for noxious weeds along I-70 and the Vail Pass recreation path on Monday, Aug. 1. The effort is in partnership with the Colorado Department of Transportation.

A rolling closure on I-70 from East Vail to the Vail Pass rest area will take place in both directions beginning at 7 a.m. Drivers are asked to use caution and slow down when approaching highway maintenance vehicles.

Vail Pass bike path users and pets should remain on the pavement and not leave the trail for the entire day. Those sensitive to herbicides should avoid the path completely for at least 24 hours.

The Colorado Noxious Weed Act requires local governing bodies to control the spread of noxious weeds on public roads, highways, rights-of-way and easements. For additional information, contact Scott Griffin at or at 970-328-3553.
