Foreclosure sale auctions in Eagle County go online

Contact: Teak Simonton, County Treasurer,

September 22, 2020 - Beginning with sales scheduled on and after Sept. 30, 2020, the Eagle County Public Trustee will be offering an online foreclosure program, replacing in-person sale auctions.

This platform will provide interested bidders the opportunity to research properties online and send electronic deposits and payments in the safety and comfort of their own space. Bidders will create an account, keep a list of properties they are watching and on sale day, track the auction in real time. The site is simple to use and there are tutorials and training available.

Several important changes include:

  • Deposits equal or greater than 10% of the bidder’s anticipated high bid must be deposited by electronic means or delivered in person.
  • Deposits must be received or confirmed as deposited in our bank no later than 5:00 p.m. mountain time on the day before the auction (Tuesdays)
  • If bidders are unable to attend the live sale dates and times, they may enter a proxy bid and the system will bid on their behalf up to the ceiling price they have indicated.
  • Lowering or cancelling a bid must be done prior to the start of the foreclosure sale.
  • Successful bidders must complete their payment through the Eagle County auction website: All winning payments must be delivered by wire transfer, cash, or certified funds no later than 5:00 p.m. on the day of the auction. Funds must be in U.S. currency or drawn from a U.S. financial institution
