Contact: Jared Barnes, ECO Trails, 328-3528

The 14 Trail Adopter of the Adopt-A-Trail Program have been named the by Eagle Valley Trails Committee, a group of citizen volunteers, as this year’s ECO Trails Supporter of the Year.  The awards are made annually for exceptional contributions to the regional trail and local transportation systems for the benefit of bicyclists and pedestrians.

The award recipients are: Eagle Valley High School Cross Country and Track & Field Teams; Bossow Excavation; Western Eagle Valley Rotary Club; Town of Gypsum; Campbell Construction; R.A. Nelson; Edwards Rotary Club; Inn and Suites at Riverwalk; Riverwalk Master Association; River Pines Homeowners Association; Eagle County Charter Academy; Eagle County Cycling Project; Ski & Snowboard Club Vail; SOS Outreach.  Each of these groups commit to biannual clean up days on a dedicated portion of the Eagle Valley Trail.  Many of the trail adopters have been partners with ECO Trails for years, with the longest adopters having cleaned trail sections since 2000.

The ECO Trails Committee presented the awards to the Trail Adoption Groups at the Board of County Commissioners meeting on December 6.   “Thank you to all of the Trail Adoption volunteers!  Their hard work and support has made the Eagle Valley Trail a more enjoyable system for everyone.  They have helped the ECO Trails program keep maintenance costs down so that we can focus our limited funds on trail construction and increase the connections between communities.” said Jared Barnes, Eagle County’s ECO Trails Planner.

ECO Trails is a partnership program between Vail, Avon, Minturn, Red Cliff, Eagle, Gypsum, Eagle County and the Eagle Valley Trails Committee to complete a connected paved trail system through Eagle County with links to spur and backcountry trails, as well as working to improve bicycling on our local roadways.   For more information, contact Jared Barnes at 328-3528 or visit
