Contact: Kevin Sharkey, ECO Trails Manager, 970-328-3523, kevin.sharkey@eaglecounty.us

Oct. 24, 2018 – ECO Trails will host a ribbon cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. on Oct. 30 for the newly completed segment of the Eagle Valley Trail, which connects the Town of Eagle to Eagle County’s Horn Ranch Open Space property. Light refreshments will be served.

The new trail section can be accessed at the Horn Ranch Open Space from U.S. Highway 6. Limited parking is available at Highway 6 and Hell’s Pocket Road, 6 miles east of Eagle. Carpools are encouraged.

Total cost of the project was $7 million, with $2 million coming from a Great Outdoors Colorado grant award. Additional funding included $200,000 from the Town of Eagle and $4.8 million from Eagle County’s ECO Trails, ECO Transit, Open Space and Capital Improvement funds.

The Eagle to Horn Ranch Trail project completes a 6.5 mile section of the planned 63 mile-long Eagle Valley Trail that will connect all of the communities of the Eagle River and Gore Creek valleys from Vail Pass to Glenwood Canyon.

To date, 51 miles of the trail is complete. For more information, contact ECO Trails Program Manager Kevin Sharkey at 970-328-3523 or at kevin.sharkey@eaglecounty.us.
