Eagle County will officially open its Energy Smart Colorado Resource Center on Jan. 19, marking the launch of the Energy Smart Colorado for Homes program. The center is located on the second floor of the Miller Ranch Community Center, located at 25 Mill Loft St. in Edwards. The public is invited to an open house between noon and 1:30 p.m.

Homeowners will be able to sign up for free energy assessments and low-cost improvements aimed at reducing energy bills, as well as learn about Energy Smart rebates, project financing and how to get free advice from trained energy professionals.

Contractors will be invited to sign up for Energy Smart training and to take advantage of partners’ promotions and scholarships for continuing education. Contractors are encouraged to get involved in the program.

Those interested in becoming a certified energy rater can learn about the Energy Smart partnership with Colorado Mountain College to offer a Building Performance Institute (BPI) class Feb. 7-11. A discounted rate will be offered.

Those who live or own property in Eagle County and pay utility bills will have access to the free services provided by the Energy Smart Resource Center from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Resources are available by visiting the center, calling 970-328-8777 or e-mailing

The Energy Smart Program is funded through a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy and is a partnership between Eagle, Pitkin and Gunnison counties. Visit for more information.
