Suspect Wanted In Stabbing

El Jebel, Colo. – On Sunday, July 19, 2015, at approximately 10:30 P.M., the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office, Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office, Basalt Police Department and the Basalt & Rural Fire Protection District responded to Playa Azul restaurant located at 58 El Jebel Road El Jebel, Colo. on a report of a stabbing.

An investigation revealed that there was a verbal altercation between two males, which escalated, resulting in one of the males pulling a knife and stabbing the other male. The suspect then began swinging the knife at other individuals in a reckless manner before fleeing the scene.  The victim was transported to Valley View Hospital to be treated for his injuries.

The suspect has been identified as Jose Oscar A. Romero Zelaya, age 30 of El Jebel, Colo. Zelaya is known to have multiple aliases and may go by Jose Romero, Jose Zelaya, Oscar Romero, Oscar Romero Zelaya, Oscar Zelaya, Jose Selaya.

Deputies are attempting to locate Zelaya who may still be in the Roaring Fork Valley. He is described as a Hispanic male, standing 5’5”-5’7” and weighing 170-190 lbs., with black hair and brown eyes.
