Contact: Shannon Cordingly, Public Information Officer, 970-376-7000

“Lock your vehicle,” is the message Sheriff Joe Hoy wants citizens to hear after a rash of vehicle trespasses took place in the Blue Lake residential area earlier this week.

Two juveniles were spotted rummaging through a vehicle parked in the 200 block of Rabbit Road Thursday morning, Sept. 23, 2010 around 2 a.m.  Both suspects are described as males in their late teens.  One suspect was described as wearing a dark colored hoodie at the time of the vehicle trespass.

The Eagle County Sheriff’s Office recovered a red backpack filled with cameras and other miscellaneous items believed to be stolen from vehicles in the Blue Lake residential area.  The Eagle County Sheriff’s Office would like to return all of the recovered property to their rightful owners. We are asking anyone who believes their vehicle was broken into in the El Jebel area to call the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office at 970-479-2200 to make a report.

“Criminals are looking for easy targets,” said Sheriff Joe Hoy.  “If your vehicle is locked, in most cases the criminal will bypass your vehicle and find one that is unlocked.”
