Internet Crimes Against Children

The Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) system was created in order to combat the growing threat to children by use of the Internet. The Sheriff's Office is a task force affiliate of the main Colorado ICAC Task Force at the Colorado Springs Police Department.

The ICAC Unit at the Sheriff’s Office investigates persons using the internet to attempt to engage in sexual contact with underage children, persons who send children Web camera feeds or files displaying sexual acts, and persons who download or distribute child pornography files using email, file-sharing networks, or other technology tools.

One of the most important things you can do for your child who uses the Internet is teach them to be safe when doing so. CyberTipline shows parents how to keep their kids safer online. We have always taught our children "stranger danger." They know what to do if someone approaches them on the playground, but what about on the computer? By allowing Internet access in your home and not teaching your child to be safe, you are in essence inviting sexual predators into your home unabated. Use the links to the Internet safety pages below and/or click on the links to find tips on how to keep children and teens SAFE on the internet.

Are you worried about your kids’ safety online? These days, having a computer along with an internet connection is essential to the educational and social needs of young people. However, parents must acknowledge the dangers lurking in the digital sphere.

If you’re unsure how you can safeguard your children from digital threats, then please click on the "E Safety Guide For Parents & Kids | To Keep Kids Safe Online" guide is for you. Here, we’ll identify the many things that put kids at risk and reveal what you can do as a parent.

If you believe you have any information relating to Internet crimes against children, contact the Sheriff's Office ICAC Unit at 970-328-8599, or anonymously report through the CyberTipline at www.cybertipline.com or 1-800-843-5678.
