Draft Resolution Adopting Eagle County Road Use Regulations

Draft Eagle County Road Use Regulations

Public Comment

July 27, 2017 – The Eagle County Board of Commissioners will consider a resolution adopting the Eagle County Road Use Regulations during their regular meeting on Aug. 8. The hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. in Eagle County Room, located at 500 Broadway in Eagle. All interested community members are encouraged to attend.

As proposed, the regulations would prohibit travel on portions of Cottonwood Pass for vehicles that exceed 8 feet 6 inches in width, 14 feet 6 inches in height, and 45 feet in length without a permit. The regulations also allow the county to close certain roads during adverse weather.

The county is considering the resolution in advance of the planned closure of the Grand Avenue Bridge, in an effort to prevent Cottonwood Pass from being inappropriately identified as a viable detour route for oversized vehicles. If adopted, the road use regulations will become permanent and remain in place past the completion of the Grand Avenue Bridge project.

The bridge closure is scheduled to begin on Aug. 14 and last approximately 95 days. Visit for more details, including suggested detours.

The proposed regulations are available for review above, or call 970-328-8685 for more information. Those unable to attend the hearing but who wish to comment on the regulations can email the Eagle County Board of Commissioners at The hearing will be aired live on Eagle County Government Television, cable channel 18 in the Eagle Valley, and streamed live at
