Bridge work will cause Colorado River Road delays

Contact: Rick Ullom, Project Manager, 970-329-8780 or Brad Higgins, Road & Bridge Director, 970-471-4151

Work on the Three Island Bridge realignment north of Dotsero, which will result in a new two-lane bridge, has resumed for spring. Placement of girders will result in 30 minute to hour long delays on Colorado River Road at mile marker 8.2 on April 29 beginning at 8:30 a.m., following the final school bus route of the morning. Motorists should be prepared for delays.

Flaggers will be in place to direct traffic, travelers on the Colorado River Road are advised to watch for variable message signs. A 200-ton crawler crane will be used to pick and set the girders for the new bridge.

The existing bridge was built in 1954; the new bridge will result in a safer road alignment and will accommodate two-way traffic, plus pedestrians and cyclists. For more information, contact Rick Ullom, Eagle County Project Manager, at 970-328-8780 or Brad Higgins, Eagle County Director of Road & Bridge, at 970-471-4151.
