Eagle County residents have multiple Christmas tree recycling options

Contact: Kris Widlak, Communications Director, 970-328-8617, kris.widlak@eaglecounty.us

Jan. 2, 2020 – Several opportunities exist for Eagle County residents to recycle Christmas trees after the holidays. Vail will be providing curbside collection of cut trees to residents through Jan. 31. New this year, Avon residents must drop off their trees. On every Saturday in January from 8 a.m. to noon, Avon residents may drop off their tree at 375 Yoder Avenue, also known as Lot 5, just past The Home Depot. Gypsum residents can dispose of trees by delivering them to the Gypsum Sports Complex parking lot. The Eagle Lions Club and the Greater Eagle Fire Protection District will host a Twelfth Night celebration at 6 p.m. on Jan. 6 with a bonfire at the Eagle Town Park. The Town of Minturn will also offer Christmas tree pickup for residents until Jan. 10, when they will host their annual bonfire at 5:30 p.m. at Little Beach Park.

Other Eagle Valley residents may drop off their trees at the EagleVail driving range parking lot and at the recycling site at the Edwards rest area for no charge until Feb. 14, or at the Eagle County Landfill in Wolcott at any time. Roaring Fork Valley residents may bring their trees to the Rio Grande Recycling Center until Feb. 15 or may drop trees off for composting at the Pitkin County Landfill for no charge until Feb. 15. Residents who choose to recycle trees or drop them off for bonfires should remove all lights, tinsel, ornaments, stands, nails and plastic wrapping. Trees should be left whole.
