County offers free electronic waste disposal for America Recycles Day

Contact: Jesse Masten, Solid Waste and Recycling Manager, 970-328-3472, or John Gitchell, Environmental Manager, 970-328-8766,

Nov. 13, 2017 – In celebration of America Recycles Day, Eagle County Solid Waste and Recycling will offer free disposal of electronic waste to county residents from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Household Hazardous Waste Facility in Wolcott, next to the Eagle County Landfill. Proof of residency must be provided at time of drop off.

Excluded from the free disposal day will be cathode ray tube (CRT) and console televisions, as well as electronic waste from businesses. These items will be accepted for a fee of 20 cents per pound.

The America Recycles Day event supports the goals of the Climate Action Plan for the Eagle County Community. In addition, the Environmental Policy Statement adopted by the Board of County Commissioners prioritizes diverting waste and increasing recycling, along with reducing greenhouse gas emissions, protecting wildlife habitat, conserving water and adopting renewable energy sources.
