Planning Commissioners serve an important role in our community and help to shape the long-term development of Eagle County by providing recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners (“Board”) to consider when the Board reviews land use applications, and by reviewing and adopting long range planning documents, such as the Eagle County Comprehensive Plan and local area plans.  Commissioners must hold themselves to the highest ethical standards. All planning commission hearings are open to the public and recorded as public record. All decisions by the Planning Commission must be defensible and in alignment with the Eagle County Land Use Regulations. If re-appointed, Planning Commissioners will receive training from County Staff and Attorneys regarding the specific requirements of our local regulations.

Regular members serve three year terms, while associate members serve for one year.

Members and associate members of the Eagle County Planning Commission shall be residents of Eagle County prior to appointment, and registered voters. Although no specific experience requirements are necessary as a prerequisite to appointment, consideration is given to applicants who have experience or education in planning, law, architecture, natural resource management, real estate and related fields.
