Planning commission to begin review of Tree Farm preliminary plan

May 26, 2015 – The Roaring Fork Valley Regional Planning Commission will begin their review of the Tree Farm Planned Unit Development (PUD) preliminary plan during their regular meeting on June 4. The file is scheduled for a site visit at 2:30 p.m. at 401 Tree Farm Drive, El Jebel. A public hearing will follow beginning at 4 p.m. at the El Jebel Community Center, 0020 Eagle County Drive in El Jebel. This is the first of several anticipated hearings on the preliminary plan. 

The Tree Farm PUD encompasses 71 acres, located on what’s known as the Lane Property on the north side of U.S. Highway 82 across from Willits Town Center. As proposed, the development would include up to 400 residential units, approximately 135,000 square feet of commercial, office, lodging, and/or light industrial space, 42 acres of active and passive open space, and the continued use of the property for tree farm and nursery operations.

The PUD process consists of three steps: sketch plan, preliminary plan and final plat. The file received a recommendation for sketch plan approval from the Roaring Fork Valley Regional Planning Commission in May 2009, followed by sketch plan approval from the board of county commissioners in September 2009. The project has received two extensions to the sketch plan approval.
