Energy Smart Program meetings set for May 3 and 4

Contact: Adam Palmer, Environmental Policy Planner, 970-328-8734

The Eagle County Board of Commissioners will hold a work session regarding funding for the Energy Smart Program on May 3; the work session is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. with Energy Smart listed second on the agenda. A public hearing to adopt a resolution finalizing the funding mechanism is set for 9 a.m. May 4. Both meetings will take place at the Eagle County Building, located at 500 Broadway in Eagle, and will be available for viewing live on ecotv18 as well as online at www.eaglecounty.us. All interested community members are encouraged to attend.

The Energy Smart Program was developed to provide low-interest loans for qualified energy improvements, without a county-wide tax increase. Any property owner participating in the program will be responsible for repaying the loan via a special property tax assessment on the improved property. The program is voluntary and only affects those choosing to participate. For more information, contact Adam Palmer, Environmental Policy Planner for Eagle County, at 970-328-8734 or visit the county’s website at www.eaglecounty.us.
