Commissioners continue review of Wolcott plan

Contact: Bob Narracci, Planning Director, 970-328-8750 or bob.narracci@eaglecounty.us

The Eagle County Board of Commissioners will continue their multi-part review of the Wolcott Planned Unit Development (PUD) preliminary plan during their regular meeting on May 7. The file is scheduled for discussion beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the Eagle County Building and will be aired live on ecotv18, as well as streamed live and archived for later viewing at www.ecotv18.com. This is the second of several anticipated hearings on the preliminary plan.

Tuesday’s meeting is expected to include discussions on two of the remaining seven land use regulation standards that relate to preliminary plan review: ‘Adequate Facilities’ and ‘Improvements.’ Community members who wish to comment on these specific topics are encouraged to attend.

Those following the Wolcott PUD process are asked to note the board may decide to continue these topics to a future meeting, or move on to additional standards if time allows. Future topics include ‘Compatibility with Surrounding Land Uses,’ ‘Conformance with Comprehensive Plan,’ ‘Phasing,’ ‘Common Recreation and Open Space,’ and ‘Natural Resource Protection.’

In conjunction with review of the PUD preliminary plan findings, the commissioners will consider the project’s companion zone change and 1041 permit applications. General public comments will be solicited at the end of the review process, prior to the board’s final deliberation and decisions.

The Wolcott PUD encompasses 373 acres and includes mixed-use residential, commercial and municipal development on the Wolcott valley floor and on the south side of Interstate 70. As proposed, the development would include 577 residential dwelling units, 144,500 square feet of commercial space, 138 acres of private and passive open space, and an emergency services facility.

Additional information, including the application and staff report are available for review at www.eaglecounty.us/Planning/Active_Land_Use_Applications. Citizens who are unable to attend next week’s meeting can forward questions or comments to Eagle County Planning Director Bob Narracci at 970-328-8750 or at bob.narracci@eaglecounty.us.
