Human Services to host screening of award-winning film “Resilience”

Contact: Megan Burch, Strategy, Partnerships and Performance Manager, 970-328-8815,

June 5, 2017 – The Eagle County Department of Human Services will host a screening of “Resilience: The Biology of Stress & the Science of Hope” at the Colorado Mountain College campus in Edwards on June 12.  Refreshments will be served at 5:30 p.m. The film will start at 6 p.m. with time for discussion to follow.

“Resilience” is a one-hour documentary that delves into the science of Adverse Childhood Experiences and a new movement to treat and prevent toxic stress in kids. The film aims to show how extremely stressful experiences in childhood can alter brain development and have lifelong effects on health and behavior, including everything from heart disease and cancer to substance abuse and depression. Alongside chronicling the impact of childhood trauma, "Resilience" provides strategies for strengthening local efforts to help kids who live with daily trauma.

The screening is free and all interested community members are encouraged to attend. For more information on the film, visit
