Recycling exhibit on display for America Recycles Day

America Recycles Day installationNov. 16, 2015 – In continued recognition of America Recycles Day on Nov. 15, Eagle County will host a temporary installation beginning Nov. 17 at 500 Broadway in Eagle. Bales of recycled materials weighing up to 2,000 pounds will be displayed along with facts about the community’s recycling efforts.

All interested community members are encouraged to visit the installation from Nov. 17 until Nov. 22 and learn more about the importance of recycling these materials in Eagle County:

- Steel and tin cans
- Corrugated cardboard
- Mixed office paper
- Aluminum cans
- Mixed plastics

Every day, nearly 200 tons of waste is delivered to the Eagle County Landfill and more than 60 percent of these materials can be recycled or composted. Instead, less than 20 percent of Eagle County’s total waste is currently being diverted or recycled, which means more than 160 tons of waste is buried in the Eagle County Landfill every day.
