Eco-Build Grant Application and Instructions

June 18, 2015 – Eagle County is accepting Eco-Build grant applications for local projects that support energy efficiency, renewable energy and/or water conservation. Applications are due by 5 p.m. June 30.

The following target areas have been identified for dedicated Eco-Build funds:

  • Low-income households
  • School projects and programs involving children
  • Solar thermal systems
  • Education and community outreach
  • Efficiency and safety testing, including envelope commissioning for new construction
  • New technologies and innovation
  • Radon awareness  and mitigation
  • Water conservation and efficiency

Funded by fees collected through the Eco-Build efficient building code, Eco-Build grants have returned $1.5 million into the local economy through support of community projects. Applications are reviewed quarterly by the Eco-Build Committee, with recommendations forwarded to the Board of County Commissioners for final approval.

Past projects supported by ECO-Build grants include the Walking Mountains Science Center LEED Platinum campus, the EagleVail pool solar thermal system, energy efficiency and solar at the WECMRD Fieldhouse, LEED-certified Habitat for Humanity homes, the first micro-hydro vortex hydroelectric system in the country, and installation of real-time energy use devices in the Eagle County School District. The program also funds Energy Smart Colorado assessments and rebates. This initiative has driven the installation of hundreds of energy efficiency improvements and over 150 solar photovoltaic systems on local homes and businesses.
