Earth Day Poster Contest

Contact Terri Vroman, Environmental Health Administration, 970-328-8755

It’s that time of year again! Eagle County Environmental Health Department is gearing up for its 20th Annual Earth Day Poster Contest for all fourth grade students. Eagle County Earth Awareness Week is April 18-24 and National Earth Day is April 22nd.

Earth Day originated in 1970 along with the formation of the EPA, and developed from an interest in the protection of public health and the environment. Every year Earth Day serves as a reminder of our growing environmental awareness and allows us to focus on improving our environment every day. Since children are our future, it is important for them to understand and contribute to the condition of our environment. Eagle County’s Earth Day poster contest is a great place to start!

This year’s theme is “Energy Smart for Our Future” as it relates to the choices we make regarding energy, now and in the future. Posters might depict current “energy smart” choices in Eagle County that will protect our Earth’s future (solar panels, wind turbines, electric cars), or depictions of the future if we make “energy smart” choices now (clean air and water, lower pollution, futuristic public transportation, etc.)

If you have any questions regarding the program, please call Terri at 328-8755.
