Contact: Rickie Davies, Senior Staff Engineer, 970-328-3567 or

Aug. 1, 2016 – The Burns and Catamount Bridge projects located on the Colorado River Road northeast of Dotsero are nearing completion. Over the next month, crews will be performing operations that will impact both road and river traffic.
Beginning Aug. 2, the contractor will be paving the new Catamount Bridge on Tuesday and Wednesday, then paving the Burns Bridge on Thursday and Friday. During paving operations on both bridges, through traffic should not be delayed by more than 15 minutes. The paving at Catamount Bridge will impact the BLM parking area at Catamount. Those entering and exiting the parking area could be delayed by 30 to 45 minutes.
Starting Monday, Aug. 8, crews will be removing the existing Catamount Bridge. The operation will impact river traffic. Boaters will not be allowed to cross under the bridge while the contractor is cutting or lifting old girders from the bridge. Flaggers will be located upstream from the bridge to notify boaters of the work ahead. River traffic should not be delayed by more than 20 to 30 minutes. Demolition will take place on weekdays only and is anticipated to take two weeks.

Demolition of the existing Burns Bridge is scheduled to begin Monday, Aug. 22 and also take two weeks of weekday work to complete. Similar 20 to 30 minute delays are anticipated for river traffic.
