Flood warning from National Weather Service

BULLETIN - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED
FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE GRAND JUNCTION CO 
8:15 AM MDT SUN JUN 6, 2010  
    
The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has issued a flood warning for melting snow in Eagle County in central Colorado.   

  • Warning is in effect until 8 p.m. Monday, June 7
  • Local law enforcement officials reported flooding across the warning area. Gore Creek rose rapidly last night, resulting in minor flooding in and around Vail, although water had receded this morning. Additional flooding was reported along the Eagle River near Minturn and near Gypsum. Water has also been reported running over Highway 24 between Interstate 70 and Minturn.
  • Water levels will decrease through this morning, but will quickly rise once again later this afternoon and overnight as rapid snowmelt continues from the very warm temperatures.
  • Some locations that will experience flooding include Avon, Basalt, Eagle, Gypsum, Minturn, Red Cliff and Vail.
