June 29, 2016 - As the Fourth of July weekend approaches, Eagle County Emergency Management is reminding residents and guests to be responsible with personal fireworks, and to use legal fireworks in a safe area well away from all combustible materials such as structures and vegetation.  Personal fireworks of any kind are always prohibited within the Town of Vail, and on all U.S. Forest Service,  Bureau of Land Management and Sylvan Lake State Park lands.

The use of illegal fireworks can result in significant fines and you may be responsible for paying for any damages and fire suppression cost associated with their use. It is illegal to purchase fireworks out of state and bring them into Colorado. It is also illegal for anyone age 16 and younger to buy fireworks. Use of fireworks by kids under 16 must be under direct adult supervision.

Illegal items include anything that leaves the ground or explodes, such as cherry bombs, M-80s, roman candles, Black Cats, bottle rockets, shells, etc. All public safety agencies in Eagle County recommend residents and guests enjoy the professional shows that are being presented throughout the area to ensure a safe holiday weekend.
