Eagle County recruiting animal response team volunteers

Contact: Barry Smith, Emergency Management Director, 970-328-3545 or barry.smith@eaglecounty.us

Eagle County is looking for volunteers to form an animal response team. The team would provide an ongoing, coordinated program for evacuation and protection of domestic animals and livestock before, during and after an emergency situation. This team will be activated when:

  • An emergency situation forces evacuation of residents, visitors and domestic animals from an area that could potentially be harmed by an approaching emergency situation
  • A transportation accident involving livestock that may require assistance from community animal resources
  • An emergency situation involving animal health or public health issues and/or requiring action concerning animal populations in the community

An inaugural team orientation will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 1, 2010 at Alpine Bank, located at 0205 East Chambers Ave. in Eagle, and will include a presentation by the Colorado Veterinary Medical Foundation. Interested community members are asked to attend. For more information please contact Barry Smith at 970-328-3545 or barry.smith@eaglecounty.us.
