Eby Creek Fire 100 percent contained

June 29, 2012 – 6:45 p.m. – The Eby Creek Fire northeast of Eagle will be 100 percent contained by 7 p.m. and pre-evacuation notices have been lifted for the area. Firefighters will complete mop-up operations tomorrow with two 20-member hand crews and a brush truck.

The Eby Creek Fire was first reported around 6 p.m. Thursday (6/28) and was caused by a lightning strike. The fire burned approximately eight acres before containment. Several smaller spot fires were also managed throughout the day.

Responding agencies included Colorado National Guard, Greater Eagle Fire Protection District, Eagle County Ambulance District, Gypsum Fire Protection District, Eagle River Fire Protection District, Juniper Valley SWIFT crew, Salvation Army, Town of Eagle, U.S. Forest Service, Vail Fire Department, Western Eagle County Ambulance District, Colorado Department of Emergency Management, Eagle County Sheriff's Office, Eagle County Emergency Management and Eagle County Road & Bridge. Support was also given by City Market in Eagle and Eagle County Schools.
