Contact: Abbie Rittmiller, Communications Specialist, 970-328-8601

As part of National County Government Month, which takes place in April, all Eagle County high school students are invited to participate in an essay contest sponsored by Eagle County Government. The theme of the contest is "Eagle County: a great place to call home." Entries must be submitted no later than 5 p.m. April 13.

"We hope to receive a variety of written and video essays that both celebrate and showcase our community's youth," said Abbie Rittmiller, Communications Specialist for Eagle County. "We encourage teens to write about their unique experiences and the people who have shaped their lives in Eagle County."

Students may enter one written essay and one video essay. Prizes will be awarded to the top three entries in each category. Grand prize winners will receive Flip Video camcorders. Winners will be recognized at the Tuesday, April 27 meeting of the Board of County Commissioners, which is broadcast live on ecotv18 and via the county's Web site,

Be sure to review the complete contest rules before submitting entries. Contact Rittmiller at or 970-328-8601 with questions about the contest.
