March 29, 2016 – The Eagle County Commissioners are inviting the public to participate in a community conversation on early childhood development on Thursday, April 7 at the El Jebel Community Center, 0020 Eagle County Drive in El Jebel. The event is free; however, RSVPs to conversations@eaglecounty.us by April 3 are requested.

The format for the evening includes dinner at 5:30 p.m., followed by panel presentations and a group discussion from 6 to 8 p.m. Attendees will hear why early childhood development is important, how early childhood development affects our community, Eagle County’s current situation and how other communities have addressed the issue.

Panelists include David Hammond of Executives Partnering to Invest in Children; Thomas Davidson, Summit County Commissioner; Melissa Taucher from the Colorado Department of Education’s Colorado Preschool Program; and Shirley Ritter of Kids First in Aspen.

Early childhood development is the third topic in the community conversations series, which are intended to engage residents, business owners and partners in discussions with elected officials, expert panelists and each other on issues critical to the region. Previous events focused on affordable housing and climate change each brought approximately 70 people together to share ideas and insights. Every conversation in the series is taking place in two locations, one in the Eagle Valley and one in the Roaring Fork Valley.

For additional information or to RSVP, email conversations@eaglecounty.us or call 970-328-8605. To view videos of previous forums, visit www.eaglecounty.us/conversations.
