Colorado Board of Health to meet Aug. 19 in Eagle County

Mark Salley, Communications Director, Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment
303-692-2013 or

Aug. 12, 2015 – The Colorado Board of Health will head to Eagle County next week to give area residents an opportunity to participate in the upcoming Board of Health rulemaking hearings. The board also will meet with Eagle County staff to discuss a Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment-Eagle County health equity and environmental justice pilot project which concluded earlier this year. The board hopes to learn more about issues, barriers and next steps for advancing health equity and environmental justice throughout Colorado.

The board will meet at the Vail Marriott Mountain Resort, 715 West Lionshead Circle in Vail, from 10 to11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19. A public comment session is first on the agenda. Residents, government and elected officials, and interest group representatives are encouraged to attend.

Following the meeting, the board is scheduled to meet with Eagle County prevention services partners to discuss family planning and school based health centers.

The board normally meets every month in Denver but also schedules sessions across Colorado. Last May, the board held its regular session in Teller County and later met with Teller County public health and emergency medical services personnel.

The Colorado Board of Health is a nine-member board appointed by the governor. Eagle County Commissioner Jill Ryan currently serves as the board’s vice president. The board’s primary duties are to adopt public health standards, approve funding for public health grant programs and advise the department on public health matters. Board members represent all areas of the state and have a broad range of public health, health, and environmental health and safety expertise. For more information, visit
