Primary Ballots go out June 4; unaffiliated voters are reminded to vote on one

Contact: Regina O’Brien, Eagle County Clerk & Recorder, 970-328-8783,

May 29, 2018 – Ballots for the June 26 primary election will be mailed on June 4 as Coloradans choose their nominees in several key open races including governor, attorney general and state treasurer. Sample ballots with the candidates running for each office can be found at

Voters affiliated with the Democratic or Republican party will automatically receive their party’s ballot.

Today, May 29, is the last day for unaffiliated voters to select a Democratic or Republican primary ballot. Those who do not select a ballot will receive both a Democratic and Republican ballot in the mail; these voters are reminded to only vote on and return one of the two ballots received. If a person votes on both the Republican and Democratic ballots, neither one will count.

Proposition 108, which allowed participation for unaffiliated voters in primary elections, was approved by Coloradans 2016. This June’s primary will be the first time in state history that unaffiliated voters will be able to participate in the primary without first choosing to be a member of a particular party.
