2013 election reminders from the Eagle County Clerk & Recorder

The Eagle County Clerk & Recorder’s Office is reminding citizens that this year’s county coordinated election will take place on Nov. 5. The towns of Avon, Basalt, Eagle and Red Cliff, as well as the Colorado Mountain Junior College District, Crown Mountain Park and Recreation District, Gypsum Fire Protection District and the West Grand School District will have questions or candidate races on the ballot. In addition, the ballot will include statewide questions related to preschool through grade 12 education funding and taxes on retail marijuana. Vail residents are asked to note the Town of Vail municipal election will be conducted separately. 

The election will be conducted by mail ballot, with ballots to be mailed to active voters in mid-October. Voted ballots must be returned no later than 7 p.m. Nov. 5. Postmarks do not count. By law, ballots cannot be forwarded so voters are encouraged to check their mailing address at  

Those who have not yet registered to vote may do so online at through Oct. 28. Citizens may also register in person up to and including Election Day at any of the three Eagle County Clerk & Recorder locations: Avon, Eagle or El Jebel. 

The official ballot will be posted online at as well as published in the legal notices sections of the Oct. 10 editions of the Aspen Times, Eagle Valley Enterprise and Vail Daily. Although all races and issues will be published, eligibility to vote on a particular race or issue is based on where a voter resides. 

Voter Service and Polling Centers will be available at every Clerk & Recorder location beginning Oct. 21. Times are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays, and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day.  Services include voter registration, disabled access voting, in-person voting, ballot drop boxes and replacement ballots.

Unofficial election results are expected to be available after 10 p.m. on election night at Updates will be posted throughout the evening on Twitter; follow @ECClerk. A Twitter account is not required to view the updates.
