Overview

Beginning June 1, 2020 the Motor Vehicle department hours and operations are changing. The Avon, Eagle, El Jebel Motor Vehicle offices will be open for transactions that must be completed in-person on the following days:

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday; 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

CLOSED WEDNESDAYS

License plate renewals should be completed online at www.mydmv.colorado.gov, by mail, or by dropping off in a 24-hour ballot box. Renewals will be processed within one business day and mailed to the customer.

Eagle County Clerk & Recorder’s Office is an agent of the Colorado Department of Revenue for motor vehicle titling and registration services. Motor Vehicle Services is also responsible for the collection of taxes and fees as set by Colorado legislation. Motor vehicle registration must be completed within 60 days after the purchase of a vehicle. If you have just moved to Eagle County from another state, you must register and plate your vehicle in one of our offices within 90 days of establishing residency. If you have moved to Eagle County from a different Colorado County and are already registered in Colorado you can update your residential and mailing addresses by visiting or contacting one of our offices.

Driver's licenses and identification cards are handled by the State of Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles. The closest Division of Motor Vehicles offices to Eagle County are Frisco, Glenwood Springs and Leadville.

Registration is required for the following:
  • passenger vehicles
  • light weight trucks
  • trailers
  • campers
  • motorcycles
  • motorhomes
  • heavy trucks
  • semi–tractor trailer
  • special mobile machinery
  • manufactured homes
The Eagle County Clerk & Recorder’s Office is also responsible for the following:
  • title issuances and transfers
  • issuance of license plates
  • temporary registration permits
  • registration renewals
  • disabled parking placards
  • recording of vehicle loans

The Eagle County Clerk & Recorder’s Office accepts the following:

A non-refundable fee is added to your total when paying with any type of credit or debit card.  This fee covers the cost of funds to develop, maintain, and enhance the State's official web portal, Colorado.gov.  For purchases under $10.00 a fee is not charged.  There are no additional fees for cash or check transactions
