CSU Extension offers Colorado Cottage Food Producer training

Cottage Food Safety Training Flyer

April 25, 2019 – Eagle County’s CSU Extension Office will offer a Colorado Cottage Food Producer training class from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 9. The class will take place in the Garden Level Classroom of the Eagle County Building, located at 500 Broadway in Eagle.

The training will cover the specifics of the Colorado Cottage Food Act and how to safely operate a food business from a home kitchen. Participants will learn:

  • Basic food safety, including proper hygiene, preventing cross contamination and cross contact of food allergens, and temperature control for safe food
  • Foods permissible in updated Colorado’s Cottage Food Act, including pickled fruits and vegetables.
  • Ingredient labeling and disclaimer requirements.
  • Special considerations for food preparation at altitude.
  • Safe food sampling best practices

Cost for the class is $40 and registration is required by May 3 at csu-ext-food-preservation.eventbrite.com
