Nov. 13, 2019 - The Colorado Master Gardener Program is now accepting applications for 2020; applications will be accepted through Jan. 10 or until classes fill. The curriculum consists of 60 hours of classroom instruction and is held once a week on Fridays from Jan. 17 to March 27.

The CSU Extension program offers local gardening enthusiasts the chance to learn more about gardening practices in the Rocky Mountains. The 10-week course includes a combination of lectures, small group discussions and hands-on activities. In addition to being an enriching educational opportunity with in-person instruction from CSU’s expert staff, past participants say the program is perfect for meeting fellow gardeners and exchanging tips and tricks with new and old “green thumb” friends.

There are two program options available. With option 1, the Colorado Master Gardener is required to complete volunteer and continuing education hours to maintain their master gardener status. Volunteer activities vary seasonally but can include writing articles, teaching classes, or helping with horticulture questions at the CSU Extension office. This option costs $170. Limited income income scholarships may be available for a reduced program cost of $85.

Option 2 is the non-volunteer Colorado Gardener Certificate, and is used widely by landscaping professionals. Participants who do not wish to volunteer will find the certificate option a good fit. The program cost is $550. Space is limited to 20 participants.
