Master Gardener Program

Colorado Master Gardener Training Program

2018 Colorado Master Gardener Program and Colorado Gardener Certificate Training will be offered in Eagle, Colorado later in the year. More specific information will be coming soon.

See below for general information on the 2017 Class.

The Colorado Master Gardener Program offered by CSU Extension allows local gardening enthusiasts to learn more about gardening practices in the Rocky Mountains. The 10-week course includes a combination of lectures, small group discussions and hands-on activities. This year, roughly half of the curriculum will be taught by horticulture professionals with firsthand experience of working with plants in the Eagle or Roaring Fork Valley. The curriculum consists of 60 hours of classroom instruction every Thursday from Jan. 26 through April 6, 2017. Classes are held in the Garden Level Classroom at the Eagle County Building, 550 Broadway Eagle, CO.

Enrollment Options
There are two program options available.

Option 1
The Colorado Master Gardener (CMG) volunteer option is full and closed for the 2017 session.  Colorado Master Gardener volunteer activities vary from season to season but can include, writing articles, teaching classes, or helping with horticulture questions at the Extension office. All volunteer hours need to be completed by Oct. 31, 2017.

Option 2
The non-volunteer Colorado Gardener Certificate (CGC) option is used widely by Green Industry professionals. Other participants that do not wish to volunteer will find the certificate option a good fit. Registration is online and the cost is $550. Space is limited to 20 participants. Application deadline is Jan. 3, 2017.

The Science of Gardening, textbook by David Whiting (ISBN #978-1-4652-4085-5) is required for both options and is NOT included in the cost of either option. Sources to buy your book include: Kendall Hunt Publishing,  Amazon,  Valore Books.
