Colorado Master Gardener Training Program

2020 Colorado Master Gardener Program and Colorado Gardener Certificate Training will be offered in Eagle, Colorado.

Enrollment will be opening in Fall, 2019. Check back in the fall for registration instructions!

To learn more about the program refer to the Colorado Master Gardener website.

The Colorado Master Gardener Program offered by CSU Extension allows local gardening enthusiasts to learn more about gardening practices in the Rocky Mountains. The 10-week course includes a combination of lectures, small group discussions and hands-on activities. The curriculum consists of 60 hours of classroom instruction and typically is held once a week starting in January and ending in April.

There are two program options available.

Option 1
The Colorado Master Gardener (CMG) volunteer is required to complete 50 volunteer hours their apprentice year (year training was attended) and 24 volunteer hours and 12 continuing education hours in subsequent years. Colorado Master Gardener volunteer activities vary from season to season but can include, writing articles, teaching classes, or helping with horticulture questions at the Extension office. All volunteer hours need to be completed by the end of October. The program cost $170 in 2019. Limited income income scholarships may be available for a reduce program cost of $85.

Option 2
The non-volunteer Colorado Gardener Certificate (CGC) option is used widely by Green Industry professionals. Other participants that do not wish to volunteer will find the certificate option a good fit. The program cost is $550. Space is limited to 20 participants.

If you have questions about the program you may call CSU Extension Horticulture and Small Acreage Agent, Denyse Schrenker, at (970) 328-8633.
