All animals have been adopted or transferred to a partner agency to assist with finding their forever homes.

What if I want to adopt an animal?

The Humane Society is partnering with us to facilitate adoptions in the Eagle Valley during this transition period - call 970-328-7387. Other animal rescue facilities nearby include:

Aspen Animal Shelter 970-544-0206

To whom do I report an animal issue?

Eagle County is continuing to provide animal control at the same level. Call 970-328-3647 to report a stray dog, a dangerous animal, or a lost pet. These animals are still being brought to our shelter facility. Within the Town of Basalt, call the Basalt Police Department at 970-927-4316. This remains unchanged.

How do I reclaim my lost pet?

Call 970-328-3647. If there is no answer, please leave a message with your name and phone number. We will return calls and find a time for you to pick up your pet between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., 7 days a week.

How do I license my pet?

To license your dog, please refer to the instructions on at or call us at 970-328-3647 and we will assist you through the process.  Please note we will soon be transferring our licensing program to a third party and will advertise those changes when they happen.  After the changeover, all 2016 license will still be valid until Jan. 1, 2017.
