2013 EGE Inspection Results

Eagle County Regional Airport (EGE) has passed its annual Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) airport certification inspection with flying colors. The inspection encompassed everything from runway pavement, lighting, markings and signage to training records, staff knowledge and documented procedures. At the end of the intensive two-day process, EGE had no deficiencies noted.

According to Aviation Director Greg Phillips, EGE was evaluated by Peter Hahn, lead inspector for the FAA’s Northwest Mountain Region and an experienced veteran who has performed hundreds of inspections across eight states. “While we have always done well on our inspections, we're very proud to say that our team was able to accomplish a zero deficiency inspection, something that less than 5 percent of all airports across the region achieve,” said Phillips.

Hahn specifically complimented the airport on staff training and knowledge. “He told me after the inspection that he has never quizzed a team that knew and understood more about what they were doing on the airport and why,” Phillips said. “All the credit goes our dedicated employees, and especially Operations Manager Bill Ponder for his work in developing a great environment for learning, teaching and performance,” he said.
