County innovations receive recognition

Contact: Brandon Williams, Innovation & Strategy Manager, 970-406-1601,

Oct. 16, 2019 - Innovation at Eagle County Government is garnering the attention of regional and national organizations, with the county recently receiving two awards for its technology initiatives.

Last month, the Center for Digital Government presented Eagle County with a Government Experience Award, which recognizes the achievements and best practices of states, cities and counties that are radically improving the experience of government and pushing the boundaries of how citizen services are delivered. Eagle County was honored for its use of technology to provide vital, real time information for both responders and residents during its response to the Lake Christine Fire.

In addition, the county’s Innovation & Strategy Manager Brandon Williams was named a Local IT Leader of the Year as part of the Local Smart Awards from StateScoop. The digital platform recognizes leaders who transform local government to make a difference in residents’ lives. Williams was nominated for Eagle County’s innovative use of technology to support local mental health efforts, community engagement via the MIRA mobile services initiative, emergency management and preparedness initiatives, and the implementation of internal and external workflow efficiencies. Williams and Eagle County’s local technology initiatives will be featured in the coming weeks on StateScoop’s podcast at

The Innovation & Strategy function was added to the Eagle County Manager’s Office in 2018 to lead digital improvements across the organization. The county is focused on user experience, security and a mobile-first strategy to engage people where they are, both online and in-person.
