The Solid Waste and Recycling (SW&R) Department provides waste disposal services to the public in the most cost effective and environmentally sound manner while continuing to support existing environmental and recycling programs. The SW&R Department consists of a municipal solid waste landfill, a household hazardous waste facility (HHW) and a dual stream materials recovery facility (MRF). Other programs offered by the SW&R Department are free public recycling drop off sites throughout the valley (Vail, Avon, Edwards, Eagle, Gypsum and Red Cliff), textile recycling at the landfill, reuse area at the landfill and metal recycling.
