Services

Solid Waste Disposal - Eagle County owns and operates the landfill through its Public Works Department.  Landfill staff is comprised of nine individuals who oversee the entire operation.  The landfill provides a solid waste facility for Eagle County residents and an environmentally safe containment area for all acceptable refuse while insuring compliance with all federal, state, and county regulations.

Household Hazardous Waste & Conditionally Exempt Small Quantity Generator Program (CESQG) Facility
- The primary goal of the Eagle County Household Hazardous Waste Program is to provide the residents of the county with a safe, convenient, and free method of disposal for their household hazardous waste. This will have the benefit of preventing hazardous materials from entering the landfill. It will also help to lessen contamination in surface and ground water, and protect sanitation workers, children, and animals from the dangers of improper disposal of household hazardous waste. The goal of the Eagle County CESQG will be to assist local businesses in disposing of their hazardous wastes in a safer, timely, and more economical manner.  This will also have the benefit of reducing or eliminating improper disposal of CESQG waste in the Eagle County landfill.

Material Recovery Facility- The Recycled Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) began operations in January 2010. This facility is designed to process for market the recycled materials collected in Eagle County and adjoining jurisdictions. Having this facility in place and operational removes the barrier to our local recycling programs of distance-to-market. Collected materials are separated, baled and readied for direct shipment to end users. The facility utilizes both mechanized and manual sorting techniques to separate glass; steel/tin containers;  #1 PET through #7 plastic containers; and aluminum beverage containers.  In addition, newspaper and corrugated cardboard are also processed. This facility is owned and operated by Eagle County. For recycling information please call 970-328-3472.
