The ECO Trails program funds, constructs, and promotes a scenic and safe trail system of urban, paved, multi-use, non-motorized trails through the Eagle and Vail Valleys. The program is funded by a designated sales tax collected in the eastern portion of Eagle County.

Colorado Biking Laws

Bicycle Safety Senate Bill 148 was signed into law on May 11, 2009 after it passed the Colorado House and Senate. The new law will take effect August 5.

In summary, the bill requires a minimum 3-foot passing distance by motor vehicles, allows vehicles to cross the center line to avoid bicyclists, clarifies the side-by-side bicycling rule, and prohibits throwing objects at bicyclists. See bicyclecolo.org for a full copy of the test of SB 148.

Please go to Bicycle Colorado for a copy of Colorado State Statute 42-4-1412 regarding the operation of bicycles and other human-powered vehicles.
