Appointed by the commissioners, the county manager is responsible for implementation of board policies and day-to-day management of Eagle County Government, including oversight of all personnel matters. The manager also acts as the county's budget officer.

It is the responsibility of the county manager to assist all elected officials in the performance of their duties. The county manager is one of two positions appointed by the board of commissioners. The other is the county attorney.
