The Eagle County Recording Division has the following Marriage License Process.  If you would like to apply please complete the steps below.  Thank you.

NOTE: 
The Marriage License Application/Step 1 and Schedule and Appointment/Step 2, shown below, must be submitted prior to having your marriage license issued at our office.  

Step 1 - Submit Online Marriage Application:

Click Here to complete your Marriage License Application online no more than 90 days prior to the day you’d like to have it Issued. Please keep in mind your Marriage License must be issued to you within 35 days of your ceremony date and cannot be issued after your ceremony date . (C.R.S. 14-2-107)

  • Fill in the Party One/Party Two information; Party One’s information is on the left side and Party Two’s information is on the right side.
  • If parent(s) is deceased, type DECEASED.
  • If parent(s) city or state is unknown, type UNKNOWN.
  • Once completed, click submit and you will be given a number. Please write down the number assigned to your application and provide it to the Recording Office.

Step 2 - Schedule an Appointment:

Click Here to schedule an appointment, prior to your ceremony, for the issuance of your Marriage License. Please keep in mind Marriage Licenses are not issued the same day the application is submitted unless there is an appointment available.  It’s important to note, at the time the Marriage License is issued to the applicants they will both need to be present and provide a valid form of identification.

  • The cost of the Marriage License is $30
  • Additional Certified Copies are $1.25 each
  • Payment Options: cash, check, or credit card

Step 3 - Complete Marriage Certificate:

After your ceremony, please follow these instructions (EnglishSpanish) when filling out the Marriage Certificate.

Step 4 - Return Marriage Certificate to Recording Office:

Mail the license to the Eagle County Clerk P.O. Box 537 Eagle, CO 81631 or return it to our Eagle or El Jebel Recording Offices, within 63 days of issuance , for it to be recorded into public record. (C.R.S. 14-2-109) Upon receipt, the Marriage License will be recorded and the original, along with any certified copies requested, will be given to the applicants.


Requirements for Applicants (C.R.S. 14-2-108)

  • Must be at least 18 years of age - If either of the applicants are 16 or 17 years old, a certified copy of a court order allowing the marriage is required.

Not Acceptable Identification

  • Consular Cards
  • City and County Detention Center ID Cards
  • Novelty ID Cards
  • Souvenir Birth Certificates (Issued by Hospitals)

Additional Information:

  • Blood tests are not required
  • Citizenship is not required
  • Licenses issued in Colorado are for use only in Colorado (C.R.S. 14-2-107)
  • Licenses can be issued at any Colorado County Clerk’s office; license does not need to be issued in the county where the marriage is taking place.
